Picking the Right Fabric

Created by Freestockcenter - Freepik.com

Did You Know that Great HTV Adhesion Starts with Selecting the Right Fabric?

Heat transfer vinyl adheres best to certain kinds of fabrics. This will make your garment 'cling' to the HTV better and your final design will last much longer on the garment.

The best fabrics for Press-On HTV are:

  • Cotton

  • Polyester

  • Cotton/Polyester blended fabrics.

These include items like T-shirts, canvas bags, aprons, pillows, and caps.

There are other fabrics which never work and should NOT be used for Press-On HTV. DO NOT attempt to fuse your iron-on HTV to them because they will melt, burn, or scorch.

  • Nylon

  • Velvet

  • Acrylic

  • Vinyl

  • Leather

So, have your son's nylon bomber jacket embroidered with his initials, and if your daughter likes the look of velvet, send us an e-mail and let us know. (We're looking into developing 'velvet' HTV if our customers would enjoy working with it!)

Best wishes on your projects!
